The Washington Apple Commission (WAC) was established in 1937 as a grower-funded, promotional organization representing the Washington apple industry. The Commission is considered a governmental agency since it is state-mandated, yet is governed and totally funded by growers under the supervision of the Director of Agriculture who approves the budget and sits on the Board of Directors.
The primary role of the Commission is advertising, promotion, education and market development for the Washington fresh apple crop. Currently promotions are being implemented in more than 30 countries overseas where Washington apples are sold.
WAC Middle East representative carries out retail promotion and merchandising activities that aim at establishing and expanding awareness of WA apples among the ME importers, wholesale and retail fruit traders and downstream. Buyers from all sectors are educated on WA apples varieties, their characteristics, storage, handling and display techniqueshttp://www.bestapples.com
