After six months of seeing the light for the first time, your infant is now ready to light up his or her digestive system with a rainbow of fruits and vegetables. By that time, the muscular network is tougher, neuromuscular messages are higher, and the immune system is stronger. In other words, your little angel can now enjoy new tastes, textures and of course, your endless care.
Did you know?
Pears are on the list of the top five most desirable fruits among infants.
Adding USA pears to your infant’s first “nibble” is a fine idea; they resemble a bouquet of multiple nutrients as they contain:
- Fiber, which regulates the baby’s bowel movement
- Vitamins, including Vitamin C, a powerful antioxidant that ensures normal growth and development
- Minerals, including potassium which ensures good functioning of organs, and the skeletal and smooth muscles.
- Phytonutrients, such as flavonoids and anthocyanins (in red-skinned pears) that help in reducing risks of heart diseases, cancers, and possibly asthma.
Better in flesh than juice, a pear preserves its necessary nutritious load when offered fresh. Among the USA pears varieties, Comice, Anjou, and the tasty Bartlett are loving choices for your baby as they are sweet, juicy and pureed easily, even when raw.
